Will 2012 be a better year, or  a worse year? How is the situation? This article by Mark di Vincenzo covers this point with some positive notes: consumers are spending again, but perhaps …from their saving. One thing however which confirms what I also read and noticed myself is that no one saves on mobile phone and especially smart phones which are still selling like hot cakes AND that more and more people are using on the go to check prices and best deals while in a mall or street…

Challenges Facing Today’s Retail Industry
- openforum.com

Like every other industry, retail is up against a fragile economy, with slow growth forecast for well into the first half of 2012. The good news is that the unemployment rate has been decreasing, and consumers have begun dipping into their savings to spend: a sign that either consumer confidence is rising or that they just want to reward themselves for saving so aggressively the past few years.

But food-service retailers and others point out that the increased cost of commodities, everything from coffee to bread to paper products, is problematic.

In next article an interesting trend and actually something I also did not fail to notice: there is no more hope in the future. Or, stated differently, the young generation realizes that there is no more fixed job, no more jobs at all sometimes and that to make a decent life, education is not relevant anymore, while entrepreneurship is the way to go. YOung people are learning to create their own job:

This generation came of age during the recession. Seeing their parents lose investments and homes teaches them to tread cautiously in an economy that promised so much to the generation before them.

So, what do they do? Let’s look at the silver lining. The economic downturn has forced Gen Y to become entrepreneurs. Their move to become more self-reliant is happening just as some cool technology is emerging to assist them, and the barrier-to-entry is lower.

Young people are creating jobs rather than competing for them.

Young Entrepreneurs Craft Their Own Future

From Dan Schawbel: Young people are staring into a future that’s bleaker than their parents’ future was. They have less help from employers and the government toward their retirement.

The 3 elements to generate sales online

This blog post has been optimized using Keyword Winner

Is there any “secret” why some prosper online and

other people  not? How to Generate sales…

I am following Willie Crowford’s blog (http://williecrawford.com) and so I am following him “behind the shoulders” while he is making business online.  This is a huge chance for me to learn more tricks of the trade.

I already learned things, important ones. on how to generate sales in general and online.

The first lesson is to have a relation with people, a real relation, a honest and transparent  before trying to sell anything. This is something which I like a lot, although I must say, I am not always the best person at it, not because I don’t like to talk with people or because I am introvert, but because Facebook, Twitter, Linkedinare frankly new tools and they are not

“natural tools: I need to learn how to use them properly. Not that I not knowing Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and I am already using them (making FB fanpages, Twitting and connecting with people via Twitter, Joining Linkedin Groups, Facebook groups…), but there is always room for improvement. I guess that most of people are in ym same situation…

The second lesson is to sell only those things that we really like, things we a re really convinced can only bring benefits to somebody’s life or business. This point I i like even more. In other words, let’s empower people, let’s improve people’s life. I didn’t know that this was even a niche (called personal improvement or self-improvement). I like this point even more…Got in this site with lots of FREE self-improvements products:

The third thing to generate sales is to use the combined action of social media, content generation and solo ads to get sales. This is the BIG picture. Especially solo ads are really the BIG “secrets”, something not everybody knows about and something it’s quite frightening to start and manage (to many people the costs are at a first glance prohibitive , starting at $500 but more generally at around $2000+ for a serious online entrepreneurs). This is something I would like to do but not immediately, as with solo ads you need a careful preparation.

Here are now a book recommendation on how to generate sales with “event generation” , something quite known in the USA and probably much less here in Europe. I will write about this subjects in my next posts:
